A resistance force successfully attacked a military council convoy consisting of eight armored vehicles on the Monywa-Mandalay road in Sagaing Region, resulting in casualties among military council troops and the destruction of one vehicle, according to a representative from the Black Eagle Defence Force – MMU. The attack occurred around 9:45 AM on July 23, when resistance forces ambushed the military convoy that had departed from the Monywa Regional Command. During the attack, one armored vehicle was severely damaged and had to be abandoned at the Myaung junction due to its inoperable condition.
The remaining seven armored vehicles managed to retreat to Military Division 33 in Sagaing. While there were confirmed casualties among the military council troops, the exact number could not be verified at the time of reporting. Following the attack, military council soldiers took shelter in a nearby camp, and the damaged vehicle remains unmoved. The resistance forces have issued warnings to civilians to avoid traveling close to military council convoys. A spokesperson from the Black Eagle Defence Force – MMU emphasized the importance of civilian safety during military operations, noting that they sometimes have to postpone operations when civilian vehicles are too close to military targets.
The operation was led by the Myinmu Township People’s Defense Force in collaboration with multiple resistance groups, including the Black Eagle Defence Force (MMU), Allakappa District PDF, Tawtchaungoo District PDF, Myinmu Township People’s Liberation Force, Tiger Force TGR (Myaung), and local resistance forces. All resistance fighters successfully withdrew from the operation without sustaining any casualties. This coordinated attack demonstrates the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region and their continued efforts to challenge the military council’s control. The successful operation highlights the effectiveness of cooperation between various resistance groups in their fight against the military council’s forces.
