The Prisoners’ Network Myanmar (PPNM) has released a list of more than 130 prison department officials and staff members responsible for human rights violations, killings, torture, and prison transfers across Myanmar’s prisons, calling on revolutionary forces to arrest and take action against these responsible individuals. The released list includes officials from the Prison Department headquarters in Naypyidaw, as well as prison authorities who oversee more than 40 prisons and some police detention centers nationwide, complete with their names and national registration numbers.
Ko Thet Tun Oo, a central committee member of PPNM, explained that this initial list comprises individuals who require immediate warning, noting that they have obtained detailed information on more than 7,000 prison department staff members. He described how prison authorities act as ‘small kings’ in their facilities, with political prisoners and all other inmates suffering under their oppression and restrictions. The organization has verified the personal information of prison department staff and declared its intention to pursue effective justice against those who gave orders, perpetrators, and all involved parties.
PPNM has confirmed that the current release is a priority list for investigation, and information about other staff members will be distributed confidentially to relevant organizations. The network emphasized that each individual named in the list must take full responsibility in the justice sector for human rights violations, unlawful killings, torture, and prison transfers that occurred under their authority. This initiative represents a significant step toward accountability for those responsible for human rights abuses within Myanmar’s prison system.
