The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has reported that the military council is conducting aerial bombardments on Hsipaw town in northern Shan State, which is currently under TNLA control. On July 20 at 10:20 PM, a fighter jet dropped a 250-pound bomb on the former military council base of Infantry Battalion 23 in Hsipaw town. The military council has been continuously carrying out airstrikes on Hsipaw town without any ground battles taking place.
On July 19, the military council also conducted an airstrike using fighter jets, dropping three 250-pound bombs that fell and exploded in Zatsu Ward and Shwegyaung Ward, causing damage to buildings at Basic Primary School No. 1. Additionally, the military council carried out airstrikes on Hsipaw town on July 4 and July 14. These attacks resulted in the deaths of two civilians and injuries to five others, while destroying 13 houses and 6 buildings.
Due to the increasing frequency of airstrikes by the military council and reports that an offensive against Hsipaw town is imminent, most town residents have fled their homes fearing for their lives. According to a local humanitarian worker, only a few people remain as house guardians while the rest of the population has evacuated to safer locations. The military council’s airstrikes and rumors of an upcoming offensive have caused widespread fear among civilians, forcing them to relocate to secure areas. The continuous aerial attacks without any ground engagement have created a humanitarian crisis as residents abandon their homes and seek refuge in safer locations.
