According to Colonel Mu Tu, spokesperson for Battalion No. 3 of Myingyan District, eleven military council soldiers were killed during clashes on the Myingyan-Bagan Nyaung-U road in Mandalay Region. The incident began on July 19 when resistance forces ambushed two Alphard vehicles carrying military council troops traveling from Tamoketha village toward Myingyan. In this initial attack, one military officer and two soldiers were killed, while two others were wounded and subsequently transported to Myingyan Hospital for treatment.
Following the initial engagement, on July 20 at around 8:00 AM, the Battalion No. 3’s drone unit launched an attack using two drones, dropping 30 bombs on approximately 150 military council soldiers and militia members led by Thida Yu Mon from Myingyan. During this drone attack, eight military council soldiers were killed and seven others were wounded. One drone was also destroyed in the operation. Ground fighting resumed later that morning around 11:00 AM, forcing Thida Yu Mon’s column to retreat back toward Myingyan city.
Colonel Mu Tu confirmed that over the two days of fighting, the military council suffered a total of eleven fatalities and nine injuries. The coordinated attacks involved participation from both the Thaungtha Township People’s Defense Force and Maling People’s Defense Force drone units. The spokesperson added that the military council forces are concerned about the possibility of resistance forces regaining control of the Myingyan-Bagan Nyaung-U road section. The strategic importance of this route has made it a focal point of ongoing conflict between resistance forces and the military council in the region.
