In a village within Myaing Township, Yangon Region, local residents gathered to commemorate the 74th Martyrs’ Day at the Memorial of Fallen Heroes. The ceremony was well-attended by local civilians, youth, and children who paid their respects to the fallen national leaders. The venue was decorated with photographs of the martyred leaders, adorned with gardens, and featured historical displays related to Martyrs’ Day.
During the ceremony, attendees bowed in respect before the portraits of the martyred leaders and laid flower bouquets. As part of the commemoration, a 30-minute discussion session was held where participants discussed the sacrifices of the national leaders and the heroes who gave their lives for the country. The attendees then honored the martyred leaders with commemorative songs.
Despite this year’s Martyrs’ Day falling under military dictatorship, civilians risked their personal safety to pay tribute to the martyred leaders. The participants at the ceremony pledged to inherit the spirit of the martyred leaders and continue the struggle for freedom. The ceremony began in the morning and concluded at noon, according to reports. The commemoration demonstrated the people’s unwavering commitment to honoring the legacy of Myanmar’s independence heroes, even in the face of ongoing military oppression.
