
Despite ongoing conflicts in Hpakant Township, Kachin State, local residents united to hold a public strike march commemorating the 78th Martyrs’ Day as a demonstration against the military dictatorship. This strike march served not only as a tribute to the martyred leaders but also as a testament to the people’s opposition to the current military regime. Despite the active conflicts in the Hpakant area, citizens bravely gathered and led this strike march, showing their determination and solidarity.
Participants in the strike march offered prayers and tributes to the nine martyred national leaders, as well as all revolutionary heroes fighting for federal democracy and those who sacrificed their lives during the Spring Revolution. They also collectively prayed for the end of the military dictatorship and the emergence of a genuine federal democratic system. The protesters displayed signs and posters expressing their opposition to the illegal election planned to be held under the military regime. The strike march participants demonstrated their unified stance against the military’s attempts to legitimize their rule through an illegitimate electoral process.
