Armed clashes occurred between military council forces and local People’s Defense Forces in Natmauk Township, Magway Region. On July 17, the People’s Defense Forces launched an attack using 60mm and 40mm heavy weapons and small arms against a military column consisting of approximately 150 personnel, including soldiers, police, and Pyu Saw Htee members, near Baw Taung and Ba Taung between Kan Pyi and Kwin Gyi villages in Natmauk Township.
Following the engagement, the military council forces entered and stationed themselves in Samone Kone Gyi village for the night. The next day, on July 18, as the military forces were leaving Samone Kone Gyi village, revolutionary forces launched another attack with heavy weapons and small arms between Samone Kone Gyi and Kular Shin villages. The military forces suffered casualties and retreated toward Kular Shin village, according to a spokesperson from the Nga Pyay Ma Guerrilla Force.
The military council forces were comprised of combined units from Ywa Mone outpost, Saing Kaung camp, and Infantry Battalion 17, who had departed their bases since July 16. Due to the superior numbers of military council forces, the resistance forces could not engage in direct combat and instead focused on attrition and harassment operations. The attacks were jointly carried out by Tharake District No. 3 Nga Pyay Ma Battalion, Natmauk PDF, and Daung Sit Thone Guerrilla Force. The revolutionary forces were able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties, according to reports.
