The Global Arakan Rohingya National Council (ARNC) was officially established in Yangon on July 15, announcing its intention to actively participate in building Myanmar’s future federal democratic state. The organization comprises 40 central executive committee members and 60 central committee members, including Rohingya leaders and representatives from various international organizations. The council has outlined six main objectives focusing on representing the unified political voice of the Rohingya people.
The ARNC’s six key objectives include representing the unified political voice of the Rohingya people, working to restore and protect their status as indigenous people of Arakan State and Myanmar citizenship, securing full legal rights for Rohingya refugees, and ensuring their safe and dignified return to their ancestral lands under international supervision. Additionally, the council aims to engage in dialogue with Rakhine community leaders, Myanmar’s democratic forces, including the Arakan Army, and all relevant stakeholders to participate in the process of establishing a future federal democratic state in Myanmar.
The ARNC has committed to countering the ongoing genocide and elimination efforts against the Rohingya people by the military and the Arakan Army. They plan to advocate for Rohingya rights at international organizations including the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), ASEAN, and the European Union. The ARNC leadership has boldly declared that ‘the era of silence and exclusion is over, and the world will hear the voice of the Rohingya.’ The council has stated it is ready to work towards building a peaceful future for all people in Arakan State, regardless of ethnicity or religion, and is taking unified steps toward reclaiming Rohingya rights, dignity, and political destiny.
