
According to a statement from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management of the National Unity Government, three earthquakes struck near Kyaingtong City in Shan State on July 14. All of these earthquakes registered above magnitude 4.0 on the Richter scale. The first earthquake occurred at 6:31 AM, with its epicenter 10 kilometers underground near Kyaingtong City, measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale. The second tremor followed at 7:03 AM at the same location, registering 4.0 on the Richter scale.
The third earthquake struck at 2:36 PM, with its epicenter located 1 kilometer east-southeast of Kyaingtong City at a depth of 10 kilometers, measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale. According to local residents, all of today’s earthquakes were notably intense, with the last one being the most severe. Residents reported having to flee their homes carrying children during each tremor. A local resident described the earthquakes as being very noticeable, with the afternoon tremor being particularly strong.
Additionally, another earthquake was recorded near Pyin Oo Lwin in Mandalay Region at 3:34 AM on the same day. This earthquake had its epicenter 2 kilometers underground and measured 4.5 on the Richter scale. Residents of Pyin Oo Lwin reported feeling significant tremors, while those in Mandalay also felt the earthquake, though not as intensely as previous occurrences. The multiple earthquakes occurring within a single day have caused considerable concern among local residents. These seismic events have highlighted the region’s vulnerability to geological activity and the need for continued vigilance and preparedness among the local population.
