
The Karen National Union (KNU) Central has reported that four children were injured when the military council troops fired heavy weapons in Kyun Doe Town, Kawkareik Township, Karen State. The incident occurred on July 10 at 5:30 PM when the military council’s new artillery base in Kyun Doe Town fired 120mm artillery shells, resulting in injuries to four children from North Kyar Inn Village’s Kon Myint Thayar Ward. Among the injured children, a 10-month-old infant sustained shrapnel wounds to the forehead, while a 10-year-old girl was hit in her right temple and left knee, with shrapnel remaining lodged in her temple.
Additionally, a 4-year-old girl suffered shrapnel wounds to her right temple, and a 2-year-and-8-month-old boy sustained injuries to his left back and left arm from explosive fragments. In a related incident, revolutionary military sources confirmed that the military council’s air strikes on Htee Thel Lay Village, located along the Thai-Myanmar border in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, resulted in the destruction of a school and several residential buildings.
The military council conducted an aerial attack on Htee Thel Lay Village yesterday afternoon using two Yak-130 fighter aircraft, dropping seven bombs. The bombs used in the attack were identified as cluster munitions, which are designed to create secondary explosions. The airstrikes caused extensive damage to both the eastern and western wings of the village school, along with numerous shops and houses in the area, according to local residents.
