People’s Defense Forces successfully carried out an attack on the military council’s police station in Thawatti, Naypyidaw, using 40mm mortar shells. The attack, which took place on the evening of July 10, was led by the Black Leopard People’s Defense Force in collaboration with the 31 People’s Defense Force. During the attack, 10 40mm mortar shells were fired, with 9 of them accurately hitting and detonating within the police station compound, according to confirmation from the attacking forces.
The Thawatti police station serves as a crucial strategic location for military council forces and functions as a main operational base for their activities in the region. While the attack resulted in casualties among military council troops, the exact number could not be confirmed, according to the resistance forces. A spokesperson from the 31 People’s Defense Force explained that such urban area operations will continue, maintaining psychological pressure on military council forces. They emphasized that while they may not be able to fully capture the city, their presence will ensure constant pressure on military council forces.
The resistance forces have indicated their need for ammunition and weapons to continue urban operations, calling for public support where possible. Currently, they are working to strengthen their activities in urban areas and preparing to effectively respond to military council movements. The resistance forces assess that such attacks significantly impact the morale of military council troops and restrict their operational capabilities. The attacking forces maintain their commitment to continuing urban warfare operations while ensuring the safety of their members and minimizing civilian casualties. They emphasize that these operations serve to remind the military council of the resistance’s presence and capabilities within urban areas, despite limitations in fully controlling these territories.
