
Police sources and friends of the deceased have confirmed that Sai Ngaung Sai Hein, the Chairman of the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and a parliament member in Maukmai Township, Southern Shan State’s Langkho District, was fatally shot while working on his hillside farm. The incident occurred on July 11, 2023, at approximately 9:00 AM, and the identity of the perpetrating group or armed organization remains unknown at this time.
According to reports, Sai Ngaung Sai Hein was conducting routine work on his privately owned hillside farm when an unidentified gunman suddenly entered the premises and opened fire. The shooting resulted in Sai Ngaung Sai Hein’s immediate death at the scene. As of now, no organization has claimed responsibility for the shooting, and the police have not yet reported any arrests related to the incident to the victim’s family.
The deceased Sai Ngaung Sai Hein was not only the Chairman of the USDP in Maukmai Township but also a three-time elected parliament member, having won consecutive victories in the 2010, 2015, and 2020 general elections. Local residents have indicated that he was actively involved in regional development projects and initiatives throughout his tenure. The investigation into his death is ongoing, with authorities continuing to search for the perpetrator and establish potential motives for the attack.
