A representative from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Pyin Oo Lwin District has confirmed that the military council conducted aerial attacks on Phoe Kone and Chaung Gyi villages in Sadaung Township, Mandalay Region. The attacks, which occurred on July 10th in the afternoon, were carried out by fighter jets from the Tada-U Air Force Base, with the first strike dropping two bombs near Phoe Kone village.
The initial attack, which took place around 1:00 PM, resulted in no civilian casualties. However, approximately one and a half hours later, a second attack targeted Chaung Gyi village, during which two 500-pound bombs were dropped. This subsequent attack caused significant damage to several civilian homes in the area, according to confirmation from the People’s Defense Force. The military aircraft involved in both attacks were identified as fighter jets operating from the Tada-U Air Force Base.
Due to ongoing concerns for civilian safety in the wake of these aerial attacks, the People’s Defense Force in Pyin Oo Lwin District has issued urgent recommendations for local residents to construct bomb shelters and seek refuge in locations far from military council positions. Local residents have pointed out that such deliberate attacks on civilian areas constitute war crimes. The PDF continues to monitor the situation closely while emphasizing the importance of civilian protection measures against these aerial bombardments, which have become increasingly frequent in the region.
