Military vessels, speed boats, and barges of the terrorist military are moving upstream along the Chindwin River to transport copper from Chinese Wanbao company, while conducting shootings along their route, according to a responsible person from the Strike Column of Chindwin Riverbank Villages. The military council forces have been deliberately targeting villages along the riverbanks throughout their journey.
On the evening of July 7, the naval convoy entered Salingyi Township and anchored from below Tawkyaungkyi village in Chaung-U Township to near Pareintha village in Yesagyo Township. The convoy consists of 4 military vessels, 5 speed boats, and 24 barges, totaling 33 military watercraft, heading toward Monywa city, as confirmed by officials. The military vessels are reportedly transporting copper from Wanbao company, taking advantage of the high-water season.
According to local residents, the military council forces have been conducting more intense shootings in areas they deemed suspicious while moving upstream. Currently, some vessels from the convoy have reached near Sarka village and continue to carry out shootings. Local sources indicate that the military council has previously conducted similar copper transportation operations, using the flooding season to their advantage. The military’s presence and activities along the Chindwin River have caused significant concern among local communities, who continue to face security risks from these operations.
