
A representative from the People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Homalin Township, Sagaing Region, has confirmed that 17 military council soldiers who defected to the revolutionary forces with weapons and ammunition were formally welcomed in a ceremony. The event, which took place on July 5, was attended by various revolutionary forces from the Kantha District, including Battalion 1, Battalion 2, Battalion 3, Battalion 4, and People’s Defense Forces from Homalin Township, Defense Zone 3, and Defense Zone 5.
The welcoming ceremony was held at the Panglong Hall of the Homalin Township People’s Administration Body, where the defecting soldiers were honored, presented with monetary rewards, and their weapons were formally handed over. The ceremony was attended by officials from the Kantha District Command, members of the Kantha District People’s Defense Force, representatives from the People’s Defense Force battalions within Kantha District, members of township and village-level People’s Defense Forces in Homalin Township, officials from the People’s Administration Body, local residents from the Sormoe region, and business owners.
The Homalin Township People’s Defense Force has issued a call to remaining members of the military council forces and ethnic armed organizations, inviting them to contact nearby battalions within Military Region 1 under the Ministry of Defense of the National Unity Government to join the people’s side. The revolutionary forces have emphasized their commitment to welcoming all personnel who choose to align themselves with the people in the struggle against the military dictatorship. This initiative is part of the broader effort to completely dismantle the military dictatorship system and establish genuine democratic governance in Myanmar.
