According to a responsible official from the Thaung Tha Township People’s Defense Force (PDF), the soldiers were caught when they ventured outside their base at No. 1 Sweater Factory to purchase alcohol and beer. The captured soldiers were identified as Police Private Aung Thiha and Lance Corporal Han Wai Aung from Police Battalion 5 in Hmawbi, Yangon Region. During the operation, revolutionary forces seized several items from the detained soldiers, including one motorcycle, two mobile phones, and one hand grenade. The successful capture was executed when the soldiers strayed beyond their usual operational area into the outskirts of Thaung Tha city, providing an opportunity for the resistance forces to apprehend them.
The Thaung Tha Township PDF is currently holding the captured military council soldiers in accordance with international laws regarding prisoners of war. Officials have confirmed that the detainees are undergoing necessary interrogation procedures while being kept in custody.
