According to battle reports, over 30 military council troops were killed and an entire military column was destroyed and forced to retreat after revolutionary forces attacked a military convoy carrying weapons, ammunition and supplies in Mandalay Region’s Myingyan District. The attack took place at around 7:19 AM on July 3rd between Ngazun and Myotha along the Myotha-Hsimeekhon road when revolutionary forces launched a coordinated assault on the military council’s supply convoy and security column.
During the battle, over 30 military council troops including the column commander were killed, 4 were captured alive, and one supply truck was seized. The fighting lasted from 7:19 AM until 10:40 AM, and although military positions in Myotha and Minneikone provided continuous artillery support, the revolutionary forces suffered no casualties. The military convoy consisted of 5 vehicles total, with two security columns providing reconnaissance on either side of the road ahead of the convoy. After the battle, 3 supply trucks carrying weapons and ammunition fled toward Myotha, according to testimony from one of the captured soldiers.
The attack was jointly carried out by Battalion 7 Zero Guerrilla Force of Myingyan District, Mandalay District Battalion 5, and local People’s Defense Forces. There had also been an earlier clash between these military council troops and resistance forces near Gwekone village on July 2nd. Revolutionary forces were able to carry out a systematic attack after receiving advance intelligence about the military council troops’ movements, according to fighters who participated in the battle.
