Local sources have confirmed that the military council has destroyed the Myochaung-Seikangon mountain pass road in Bago Region’s Minlan Township using bulldozers, fearing attacks from revolutionary forces. On July 1st at 10 AM, military council forces arrived with three armored vehicles and approximately 400 soldiers, proceeding to destroy the road near Thaik Myaung Hill using bulldozers. The road, which is about 10 cubits wide, has now become extremely difficult for local civilians to traverse.
The Myochaung-Seikangon mountain pass road is a 112-kilometer route connecting Kyauktaga Township in eastern Bago Region with Minlan Township in the western part. The road provides direct access to Light Infantry Battalion 1 and Minlan town, and sources indicate that the military council’s destruction of the road was intended to prevent potential attacks by revolutionary forces. Similarly, on June 9th, the military council also destroyed a portion of the road near the 2-mile checkpoint in Kyauktaga Township area.
On June 16th, revolutionary forces attacked the military council’s Seikwartasone checkpoint near Ohtwin village in Minlan Township. The attack resulted in the deaths of over 20 military council personnel, including Deputy Lieutenant Colonel Zaw Myint Win from the Yangon Region Administrative Team, Major Phyo Min Oo from the Oktwin Township Administrative Team, Deputy Police Lieutenant Colonel Soe Khaing from the Yangon Region, and Major Yan Naing Aung from the Minlan Township Administrative Team. Following this battle, starting from June 19th, the military council launched multiple offensive operations throughout Minlan Township, burning down more than 10 villages. Sources report that military tensions in the region continue to remain high.
