
A spokesperson from the Myingyan District Battalion No. 3 has confirmed that resistance forces attacked military council soldiers who were out to repair power lines in Thaung Tha city, Mandalay Region, resulting in five military casualties and the seizure of weapons and ammunition. The incident occurred around 4:40 AM on July 1, when revolutionary forces from Myingyan District Battalion No. 3 launched an ambush attack on military council soldiers who had emerged from the Steel Factory in Thaung Tha Township to conduct electrical repairs.
During the engagement, two military council soldiers were killed instantly, with the remaining forces fleeing and leaving the bodies behind. Among those injured in the battle, three more soldiers later died while receiving treatment at Thaung Tha Hospital, and approximately 20 other soldiers sustained injuries. Following the clash, military council forces returned in large numbers to complete the electrical repairs and retrieved two of the deceased soldiers’ bodies, which were subsequently cremated on July 2. According to the official from Myingyan District Battalion No. 3, the military council deployed an offensive force of over 100 personnel. Of the five casualties, they were unable to retrieve two bodies immediately but managed to recover the other three. While there were numerous injuries among the military council forces, no soldiers were captured alive.
During the engagement, resistance forces successfully seized various weapons and ammunition from the military council soldiers, including 20 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 46 rounds of G-3 ammunition, 5 hand grenades, 2 60mm mortars, 3 G-3 magazines, 3 MA magazines, and 1 mobile phone. These seized items have been confirmed by resistance force authorities. The clash represents another significant confrontation between resistance forces and military council troops in the ongoing conflict, demonstrating the continued resistance against the military council’s operations in the region.
