According to the People’s Defense Force (PDF) commander of Thankhun Township, military council troops are burning civilian homes near Zeekon town in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, following an incident where six military council soldiers were killed. The attack occurred around 6:30 AM on June 30, when six military council soldiers from Myusun outpost were traveling on three motorcycles toward Zeekon police station. Revolutionary forces ambushed them approximately 1,500 meters from their outpost.
During the engagement, all six military council soldiers were killed. However, revolutionary forces were unable to collect weapons from the deceased soldiers as heavy artillery support and reinforcements arrived in large numbers, forcing them to retreat. The operation was led by the Kanbalu Counter Revolution Army (KBU-CRA) in collaboration with allied forces including Kanbalu Htaw Gyi PDF, Kanbalu Lightning PDF, and Kanbalu Forest PDF. All resistance fighters successfully withdrew without casualties.
Following the attack, military council troops from Zeekon police station and Myusun outpost deployed in large numbers and began burning civilian homes in the Yan Gyi Aung ward of Zeekon town. Local residents have been forced to flee in fear as the military council forces continue their destructive retaliation. Local sources report that the military council is deliberately targeting civilian homes as revenge for their casualties, demonstrating their continued pattern of collective punishment against innocent civilians in response to resistance activities.
