
Three military council soldiers were killed during engagements with the People’s Defense Force – Myeik District Battalion 3 near Chaung Hna Pauk village and Nyaung Pin Kwin village in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region. The first clash occurred around noon on June 15 near Chaung Hna Pauk village, where a 30-minute firefight broke out between the military council forces and Myeik District Battalion 3. During this engagement, two military council soldiers were killed and one was wounded, according to a battalion official.
Another clash erupted around 3 PM on June 16 near the military council’s Infantry Battalion 561 base in Nyaung Pin Kwin village. This battle lasted nearly two hours, with the military council forces employing both heavy and light weapons, while Myeik District Battalion 3 responded with small arms and 40mm mortar rounds. In this engagement, one military council soldier was killed and another was wounded. The People’s Defense Force unit was able to withdraw successfully without suffering any casualties. The official confirmed that while the exact strength of the military council forces is unknown, they have received intelligence about recent reinforcements of both troops and supplies, including ammunition and provisions.
The battalion official further revealed that there have been additional casualties inflicted on the military council forces in separate engagements with other revolutionary organizations in the area. He noted that while the military council continues to strengthen its forces in an attempt to maintain its grip on power, their forces are also making preparations to protect civilians. The resistance forces remain committed to defending the local population despite the military council’s ongoing efforts to reinforce their positions and maintain control over the region through force.
