
Military council leader Min Aung Hlaing arrived in Russia’s Buryatia Republic on June 29th, expressing satisfaction at making his third visit to the region. Speaking to Russian media, he described Buryatia as a beautiful region that feels familiar to Myanmar, stating that he would strive to visit again in the future. He noted that this was his third visit to the area and that it felt like visiting a familiar place, expressing his intention to make additional visits.
Regarding cooperation with the Buryatia Republic, agreements were made to accept proposals for collaboration in healthcare and education sectors, with plans to also engage in agricultural cooperation. The Rapid Bio pharmaceutical company from Buryatia is currently in the process of registering to import medical technology and supplies to Myanmar. Additionally, the Governor of Buryatia indicated that there are plans for transportation cooperation involving helicopters manufactured in Ulan-Ude.
In the education sector, cooperation plans include providing advanced training and supplementary courses for Myanmar teachers who are teaching the Russian language. There are also plans to establish Myanmar language departments in universities across Buryatia. Furthermore, both parties have agreed to promote tourism between the two regions. The comprehensive cooperation framework encompasses various sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, and transportation, with both sides expressing commitment to strengthening bilateral relations through these initiatives.
