
A military source from the People’s Defense Force has confirmed that 10 military council soldiers were killed during an attack on a military outpost in Way Daung village, located on Htoke Hpyat Road in Phyu Township, Bago Region. The revolutionary forces launched their attack on the military outpost at 2:30 AM on June 29, 2023, and successfully captured it by 7:30 AM. After capturing the outpost, the resistance forces burned it down. Of the 10 military council soldiers killed in the battle, the bodies of 5 soldiers were recovered.
The revolutionary forces stated that they targeted this military outpost because it was a location where local civilians were being harassed and oppressed. After capturing the outpost, they conducted clearing operations before withdrawing from the area. Following the battle, the military council conducted airstrikes and artillery attacks, resulting in the deaths of 4 innocent civilians from Way Gyi village and Way Htaung village, with many other civilians suffering injuries.
This military operation was jointly carried out by various revolutionary alliance forces, including the People’s Defense Force, Strategy 24, Ayeyarwady Column, Hinthada District Battalion 2, Phyu Township PDF, and Yangon Region PDF. The revolutionary forces have stated that such battles will continue until the military dictatorship is eliminated. This operation demonstrates the ongoing resistance against the military council’s oppression of civilians and highlights the coordination between various revolutionary forces in their fight for democracy.
