The KNU Myeik-Dawei District has reported intense fighting near Thein Khun village in Tanintharyi Township, Tanintharyi Region, where the military council is conducting aerial bombardments. The conflict began on June 28 at 8 AM when the military council attempted to regain control of the Maw Taung area near Thein Khun village, leading to clashes with revolutionary forces under KNLA Battalion 11. During the fighting, the military council launched airstrikes around 10 AM, dropping two large bombs and more than ten smaller bombs using fighter jets in the vicinity of the village.
The airstrikes reportedly hit areas where military council troops were positioned, and the fighting continues to be intense. Similarly, in Naung Cho Township, Shan State, battles between the military council forces and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) persist, with the military council conducting offensive operations using aircraft and heavy artillery, according to TNLA statements. The fighting is occurring between the villages of Lon San, Myat Chi Nu, Lon Way, Nyan Taw, Naung Lin, and Naung Aw in Naung Cho Township, where the military council has employed 45 aerial bombs and 32 artillery shells in support of their operations.
On June 27, during the fighting between Naung Lin and Naung Aw villages, the military council launched 20 bombs and fired 31 artillery shells. In the battle near Lon San village, fighter jets dropped two bombs, while 22 bombs were dropped on Myat Chi Nu, Lon Way, and Lon San villages. The military council also targeted Nyan Taw village with a 500-pound bomb from a fighter jet and fired an artillery shell at Um Kha village, despite there being no active fighting in that area. On June 26, fighting continued in Naung Pha, Nyan Taw, Lon San, Um Kha, and Naung Lin villages, with the military council firing 70 artillery shells and launching 32 drone-dropped bombs.
While the Three Brotherhood Alliance has extended their unilateral ceasefire for another month to continue humanitarian assistance for earthquake victims and other civilian aid operations, the military council has taken advantage of this situation to launch continuous offensive operations, resulting in frequent clashes. The TNLA has warned local civilians to remain vigilant against the military council’s bombardments and to follow air raid defense procedures for their safety. The military council’s aggressive actions continue despite the alliance’s commitment to humanitarian concerns, demonstrating their disregard for civilian welfare and the ongoing peace efforts in the region.
