On June 28 at around 9 AM, four civilians were killed when the military council forces conducted an unprovoked aerial attack on Thayet Kine village in Salingyi Township, Sagaing Region. The attack, which occurred without any ongoing fighting in the area, was carried out using paramotors and resulted in the deaths of three women and one man, all of whom were residents of Thayet Kine village. According to local sources, the military council forces dropped two bombs on the village using two paramotors deployed from the Northwest Military Command.
Following the attack, villagers were forced to flee to safety, seeking shelter in nearby areas. The incident occurred as part of a larger military operation in the region, where a fleet of 14 military vessels, including gunboats, has been moving along the Chindwin River. These naval vessels are being supported by aerial units that have been conducting bombing raids on villages along the river. Local residents report that the military forces have been systematically targeting civilian areas without any military engagement or provocation from resistance forces.
These attacks on civilians have become increasingly common in the Sagaing Region, significantly impacting the safety and daily lives of local residents. The military council has intensified its operations in the area, regularly conducting aerial strikes, ground attacks, and naval operations. This situation has created an atmosphere of constant fear among local communities, forcing them to remain prepared for immediate evacuation at any moment. The recent attack on Thayet Kine village represents another instance of the military council’s ongoing campaign of violence against civilian populations, which has characterized their operations throughout the region since the coup.
