A senior official from the People’s Defense Force’s Southern Military Region has confirmed that the terrorist military can now only control cities along the old Yangon-Mandalay road, while revolutionary forces control most areas outside cities and are gradually advancing closer to Yangon. Yesterday, revolutionary forces launched simultaneous attacks on nine military council outposts in Nyaunglebin, Pyuu, and Kyauktaga townships along the old Yangon-Mandalay road, resulting in over twenty soldier casualties and numerous injuries. The attacked outposts included Tawwi village military outpost in Nyaunglebin Township, Zeya Waddy railway station and police station in Pyuu Township, and Thuhteikone and Phayagyikone in Kyauktaga Township.
The revolutionary forces also conducted security checkpoints along the old Yangon-Mandalay road. Currently, revolutionary forces have reached within 80 to 100 miles of Yangon city and control most territories except for the cities along the old Yangon-Mandalay road. Officials confirm that revolutionary forces are steadily advancing toward their objectives, maintaining control over significant portions of territory. The People’s Defense Forces, including KNLA and local revolutionary groups, are systematically approaching Yangon while maintaining strategic positions in the surrounding areas.
In response to this situation, the terrorist military council has begun forming emergency reserve forces along the border of Bago and Yangon regions to conduct defensive operations. These reserve forces are organized as mobile units that can be quickly deployed to protect Yangon and Bago cities, combining military, police, and Pyu Saw Htee militia members. According to military sources, these mobile units were established early this year and are designed to be highly flexible, capable of rapid deployment wherever needed. The formation of these units represents the military council’s growing concern about the advancing revolutionary forces and their attempt to maintain control over key urban areas.
