Karen revolutionary forces successfully captured the Htee Ka Plaw military camp located on the Thai-Myanmar border in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, at 3:45 PM on June 22. During the battle, military council troops fled toward Thailand, prompting revolutionary forces to pursue and clear the area, resulting in the capture of four soldiers alive and the seizure of 16 weapons. Most of the fleeing military council members have not yet reached Thailand and are reportedly hiding in the forest.
The Htee Ka Plaw military camp had been garrisoned with at least 70 to 90 military council troops, of whom approximately 50 to 60 attempted to escape to Thailand. Previously, in February 2023, the Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) had attacked the Htee Ka Plaw camp but failed to capture it. A second attempt was made in September 2023, but forces had to withdraw when they were nearly successful in taking the camp. However, on June 22, 2025, they finally succeeded in capturing the position in a decisive offensive.
The Karen National Union (KNU) now only needs to capture three more military council camps to control the entire Thai-Myanmar border area. These remaining camps are Ukayittha, Walay Strategic Hill, and Tee Thay Lay military camp. Between March and June, the KNU has successfully captured numerous military council positions including Pulutoo, Khlay Day, Thaw Bi Khee, Maw Phar Thu Camp, Tah Lay Camp, May La, Black Do, Maw Kee, Bogyoke Aung Camp, Kanae Lay Camp, Shwe Aye Myaing Military Camp, They Baw Boe Camp, and now Htee Ka Plaw Camp.
