
According to a statement from KNU-Kler Lwee Htu District, three civilians, including an 11-year-old child, were injured and religious buildings were damaged when the terrorist military forces attacked villages in Lay Do and Mu Townships of Bago Region with drones and heavy weapons. The attacks occurred between June 14 and June 20. Military council troops from Infantry Battalion 264, based at Pein Zalut camp in Lay Do Township, fired 120mm artillery shells at Saming Inn Kone village and Phant Ta Lin village. One artillery shell was fired at Saming Inn Kone village while two shells were fired at Phant Ta Lin village, according to local residents.
As a result of these attacks, three civilians were injured by artillery shell fragments: 26-year-old Naw Ghee La Paw from Saming Inn Kone village, 42-year-old Naw Mu Mu and 11-year-old Saw Daung Phyaung from Phant Ta Lin village. Additionally, on June 17, the terrorist military forces fired three more 120mm artillery shells at Saming Inn Kone village. On June 20, military council troops from Nat Than Kwin in Mu Township launched drone attacks on Oshit Kone village with 12 bombs, fired three artillery shells into Yay Lae village, and one shell into a paddy field, as confirmed by local residents.
These brutal attacks resulted in the destruction of two houses in Oshit Kone village, one Buddhist monastery, one Christian church, and two houses in Yay Lae village from artillery strikes. Local residents report that civilians in the area are living in fear and have been forced to flee their homes due to the military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian areas. The community is particularly distressed by the targeting of religious buildings, which has caused significant emotional impact among the local population. The ongoing attacks have created a climate of fear and instability in the region, forcing many residents to seek shelter in safer locations away from their homes and communities.
