
The military council forces have been burning villages and detaining civilians in Minhlah Township, Bago Region’s Thayarwaddy District. On June 23rd at around 7 AM, without any active fighting in the area, the military forces began burning Sarchaung village, followed by setting fire to Sinteinchaungpauk village around 11 AM. Despite no combat operations occurring since June 20th, local residents continue to flee their homes for safety.
The military forces have conducted a series of arrests, detaining five civilians from Oodotaunsu village in the Oodokanyinpin village tract on June 21st, and two young people from Yawekone village in the Htaukkyun village tract on June 22nd afternoon. The detained civilians are being held in local monasteries. Additionally, the military has raided several villages including Yawekone, Ywarkone, Sarchaung, Htaukkyun, and Banbwepin, where they have confiscated residents’ mobile phones and occupied empty houses. These actions have been confirmed by local sources.
On June 23rd at 2:10 PM, the military council also set fire to Gangawpin village in the Gangawpin village tract of Minhlah Township. Throughout the morning of the same day, the military forces had burned a total of four villages: Gangawpin, Bohtataung, Sarchaung, and Sinteinchaungpauk. The military council’s campaign of burning villages and arbitrarily arresting innocent civilians has caused widespread fear among local residents, forcing many to flee to safer locations. The ongoing destruction of civilian property and detention of local residents has created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with displaced villagers seeking refuge wherever they can find safety.
