A Pyu Saw Htee leader known as Kular (aka) Ba Thein, who had been extorting military service fees from local residents in Shwe Phalar village, Zeekone Township, Bago Region, was killed in an attack by revolutionary forces. The incident occurred around 7:40 PM on June 20 when members of the Thayawady District Battalion 1, Company 2 Phoenix DF conducted a raid on his residence and engaged in a firefight that resulted in his immediate death.
The deceased Pyu Saw Htee leader Ba Thein was known to carry a pistol at all times and had been forcefully collecting military service fees from local residents while also coercing young people into military service. He had been openly defiant towards revolutionary forces and served as a local informant for the military council. According to responsible officials from Thayawady District Battalion 1, Company 2 Phoenix DF, Ba Thein was acting as a pillar for the military council and had been subjecting local civilians to various forms of oppression, which led to the decision to eliminate him.
The revolutionary forces have announced that they will continue their operations against military council affiliates, including soldiers, police, Pyu Saw Htee members, and other military council supporters. They have also issued warnings to civilians to avoid proximity to these targets to prevent civilian casualties during their operations. The elimination of Ba Thein represents part of the ongoing effort to dismantle the military council’s local support network and protect civilians from forced recruitment and extortion schemes being implemented by military council supporters in the region.
