According to local residents, military airstrikes on three villages in Myingyan Township, Mandalay Region, resulted in the death of a father and daughter and destroyed five houses. Despite no active fighting in the area, the military council conducted aerial attacks on Mayoekone, Ywashay, and Kyartaing villages along the Myingyan-Seimikan road between 11:15 PM and 11:30 PM on June 21. The deliberate airstrike killed U Paung Nyein, aged 80, and his daughter Ma Khin Moe Swe, around 40 years old, both residents of Mayoekone village.
The attack also injured nine villagers, with two in critical condition. Additionally, two cattle were killed, and five houses were completely destroyed in the bombardment. Mayoekone village suffered the most severe damage as the bombs were dropped directly on the center of the village. According to local sources, while Ywashay and Kyartaing villages were targeted, they did not sustain significant damage or casualties. The military council’s deliberate targeting of civilian areas without any ongoing conflict demonstrates their continued use of airstrikes against civilian populations.
Due to the military council’s ongoing aerial attacks targeting civilians even in areas without active conflict, local residents must take special precautions regarding air raid defense measures. Revolutionary organizations have urged people to strictly follow air raid protection protocols and construct sturdy bomb shelters. These attacks highlight the military’s continued strategy of targeting civilian populations, emphasizing the urgent need for proper civilian protection measures in the affected areas.
