
In a battle that occurred at the Sit Kwin Ta Saung checkpoint on the Yangon-Pyay Road in Minle Township, Bago Region, Major Yan Naing Aung, a member of the Minle Township Administrative Body, was killed and posthumously promoted to Lieutenant Colonel by the military council. The battle took place around 4 PM on June 16 when revolutionary forces attacked the military council’s checkpoint near Ohktwin village in Minle Township.
During the battle, four senior military officers were killed, including Lieutenant Colonel Zaw Myo Win from the Thayarwady District Administrative Body, Major Phyo Min Oo from the Ohtpo Township Administrative Body, and Deputy Police Lieutenant Colonel Soe Khine from the Thayarwady District. The deceased Lieutenant Colonel Yan Naing Aung was a graduate of the Defense Services Technological Academy and served in the military engineering corps. Similarly, the deceased Lieutenant Colonel Zaw Myo Win was from DSTA Batch 7, and Major Phyo Min Oo was from DSTA Batch 11.
The memorial service for Lieutenant Colonel Yan Naing Aung is being held at the Minle Township General Administration Office. He was 42 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife and one son. According to revolutionary forces and military sources, more than 20 military council soldiers, including the four senior officers, were killed in the battle at the Sit Kwin Ta Saung checkpoint in Minle Township on June 16.
