The People’s Liberation Army (PLA)-led revolutionary alliance forces successfully captured Kan Daung Police Station in Pale Township, Sagaing Region at 6:40 AM on June 19. The offensive operation began on June 2 and achieved victory after more than two weeks of intense fighting. During the battle, the military council mounted fierce resistance with air support, conducting over 200 airstrikes and dropping more than 500 bombs.
The military council employed jet fighters, Y12 bombers, Mi35 attack helicopters, and mechanized paratroopers in their defense efforts. On June 10, the PLA successfully shot down one of the military council’s F7 fighter jets, resulting in the pilot’s death. Although the military council attempted to maintain control of Kan Daung Police Station by sending reinforcements, weapons, ammunition, and supplies through Inn Ma Htee village, the revolutionary forces successfully intercepted these efforts.
Kan Daung Police Station occupies a strategically important location on the ASEAN Highway, which connects to India. It is also situated near the military council’s Defense Equipment Factories (DPF 23 and DPF 24). The station was fortified with multiple layers of defensive structures including bunkers, minefields, and trenches, making it the second-largest police station after Pale Town Police Station.
The battle involved coordinated efforts from multiple revolutionary groups including the All Burma Students’ Democratic Front (ABSDF), Yinmarbin District Battalion 11, Burma Liberation Democratic Front (BLDF), Black Hawk Border Guard Force, and the Central Plains Alliance. Notably, female combatants from the People’s Liberation Army demonstrated remarkable courage in participating in the offensive operations.
