
Myanmar people living in Tokyo, Japan held a commemorative event for State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi’s 80th birthday. During the event, participants demonstrated their opposition to the military dictatorship and expressed their commitment to continue fighting for democracy. The Myanmar community in Tokyo held photos of Aung San Suu Kyi and shared birthday wishes for her.
In Malaysia, the National League for Democracy’s Foreign Affairs Office (NLD OC International Malaysia) led a well-attended birthday celebration for Aung San Suu Kyi. The event included offering alms to Buddhist monks and birthday ceremonies. Representatives from various Myanmar organizations in Malaysia attended, including the CSP Truth Supporters Group, 22222 Overseas Support Group (Johor), and leaders from Zomi, Rawang, Lisu, Mon, and Rakhine ethnic groups, among other ethnic organizations.
Attendees at both events prayed for Aung San Suu Kyi’s health and release, while pledging to continue standing united in the Myanmar people’s struggle for democracy. They expressed their commitment to stand with the people of Myanmar in their fight to end the military dictatorship and establish a democratic system. The events demonstrated the continued support for democracy and opposition to military rule among Myanmar communities abroad.
