
The military forces that arrived in Hpakant city, Kachin State, have killed five more civilians and disposed of their bodies in a well, according to local sources. On June 14, troops from Strategic Command-3 led by Major Zaw Win executed four civilians near Mawsizar village’s hillside farms in Hpakant and threw their bodies into a well. Additionally, another civilian was shot dead and left by the roadside.
According to local residents, the military has been systematically killing civilians since their arrival in Hpakant, with the death toll now reaching 31 people. In the evening of June 14, another body was discovered by the roadside in Lonkhin village, Hpakant township, killed by military council troops. The identity of this victim remains unknown. The military has established positions at Mawsizar monastery and Pagoda Hill, with some troops having entered Hpakant city through the garbage dump area since yesterday.
