The terrorist military forces conducting operations in Sagaing Township, Sagaing Region, have killed four civilians, including the abbot of Sitaungpyi Monastery in Kyin village and his mother, while burning down houses in the area. According to reports, military council troops from the Mingun area entered Kyin village on June 12 and brutally killed the abbot of Sitaungpyi Monastery, his mother, and a relative. Local sources confirmed these killings took place during their raid on the village.
Furthermore, on June 13, military council forces opened fire with small arms on displaced civilians west of Chaungmagyi village, resulting in the immediate death of a 40-year-old woman who was shot, while two other women were injured by gunfire. Starting from the afternoon of June 14, the military council forces systematically raided both Chaungmagyi and Kyin villages, deliberately setting fire to civilian homes and properties. Local residents have confirmed that the military forces are methodically destroying residential areas in both villages simultaneously.
Currently, thousands of villagers from the affected areas have been forced to flee to safety due to the military column’s operations, while the military council troops continue their campaign of destruction, burning more houses. According to local residents, the military council soldiers are engaging in looting and destruction of villagers’ properties, and deliberately targeting civilians in their attacks. The ongoing military operations have created a humanitarian crisis in the area, with displaced residents unable to return to their homes and facing severe challenges in finding safe shelter and basic necessities.
