
Seven civilians, including five family members, were killed when the military council’s artillery shell hit a funeral home in Kawkareik Township, Karen State. The incident occurred on the evening of June 12th when Infantry Battalion 545 based in Kyun Doe and troops stationed at Gyaing Bridge began firing heavy weapons into the area.
The artillery shell directly struck a funeral home in Kawbow village, killing Daw Tu Tu (37 years old), Ma Eindra Moe (5 years old), Maung Win Win Kyaw (10 years old), U Sein Thaung Lay (41 years old), and U Lin Kone (45 years old). Some victims died instantly at the scene, while others succumbed to their injuries en route to the hospital, with one person passing away upon arrival at Hpa-an Hospital.
On the same day, the military council also launched artillery attacks on North Kammarok village in Kawkareik Township, resulting in the death of U Myint Aung (59 years old) from bladder injuries, as confirmed by the Mon Liberation Army (MLA). Due to ongoing artillery attacks by military council forces, the MLA has warned local residents to remain vigilant and monitor the military situation in their areas.
