A spokesperson from the Fight For Freedom group confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed during an attack on June 6 in Shwebo, Sagaing Region. The incident occurred when military council troops, who were stationed at the southern entrance of Shwebo at Mut Oo, came under attack while conducting patrol operations along the Shwebo-Mandalay highway. The resistance forces launched a coordinated attack using remote-controlled mines, heavy weapons, and small arms.
The clash lasted approximately 40 minutes, resulting in the death of three military council soldiers and leaving others injured. Following the battle, two hearse vehicles were seen retrieving the bodies. It is estimated that around 100 military council troops were involved in the engagement. The resistance forces successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The operation was jointly carried out by multiple resistance groups, including Battalion 15 Division 2 of Shwebo District, Fight For Freedom FFF PDF, Taukyarkan People’s Defense Force, Shwebo Township Sector 5 PDF, Tagana Nagar Min People’s Defense Force, Zamani People’s Defense Force, Kyut Daung Raza People’s Defense Force, and Daung Aung Lan People’s Defense Force.
A representative from the Fight For Freedom group expressed concerns about the significant ammunition expenditure during the operation, noting that replenishing their supplies for future operations has become increasingly challenging. The successful coordinated attack demonstrated the growing capabilities of resistance forces in the region, though they face ongoing logistical challenges in maintaining their operations against the military council forces.
The Sagaing Region continues to be a significant battleground between resistance forces and military council troops, with frequent clashes occurring throughout the area. Local civilians in the region continue to face displacement and hardship due to the ongoing conflict, with many forced to flee their homes to avoid military operations. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to opposing the military council’s control, despite facing challenges with resources and supplies.
