At the 75th Diamond Jubilee ceremony of China-Myanmar diplomatic relations held in Naypyidaw, military council leader Min Aung Hlaing expressed gratitude for China’s support of the military council in the international arena. He specifically acknowledged China’s continuous positive engagement and goodwill support towards Myanmar, stating that these contributions are highly valued and appreciated. The military leader emphasized the importance of China’s diplomatic backing during various international discussions concerning Myanmar’s situation.
Min Aung Hlaing highlighted Myanmar’s strategic geographic position in implementing China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Myanmar Economic Corridor projects. He committed to expediting the implementation of these projects and engaging in strategic cooperation with China. The military council leader also expressed his intention to deepen cooperation with China through closer collaboration on various initiatives. He emphasized the significance of these economic partnerships for regional development and connectivity.
The military council leader expressed support for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s vision for future world peace, stability, and sustainable development. It’s worth noting that through Chinese mediation, the military council recently managed to regain control of Lashio city in Northern Shan State, which they had lost in April 2025 to the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA). The military council is currently attempting to negotiate the return of other lost townships through Chinese diplomatic intervention. This demonstrates China’s significant role in mediating conflicts within Myanmar, particularly in areas along the Chinese border where various ethnic armed organizations operate.
