
Four civilians, including three family members, were killed and eight others were injured in an airstrike conducted by the military council in Thandwe Township, Rakhine State. The attack began after 10 PM on June 7, when military council forces launched airstrikes on a school in Kyauk Gyi village where internally displaced persons (IDPs) were taking shelter. The attack resulted in the death of three family members and one displaced woman, while eight others were wounded, with six sustaining severe injuries according to local sources.
The military council’s air force conducted two separate bombing runs, the first at 10:14 PM and the second at 10:25 PM, dropping two bombs in total. The deceased were identified as Daw Apu, 48 years old, U Htun Htun Win, 42 years old, Daw Hnin Wai Khaing, 43 years old, and Ma April Moe, 12 years old, as confirmed by local residents. Additionally, eight villagers from Kyauk Gyi were injured in the attack, with six of them requiring emergency medical treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
Similarly, around the same time on June 7, the military council’s air force also conducted two airstrikes using fighter jets on a school in Pazun Zay village, resulting in injuries to two civilians. The military council also targeted an area between 6th and 7th streets in Quarter 8/A of Thandwe town, making it the third location attacked by airstrikes in a single night, causing extensive damage to numerous residential buildings. Despite the military council’s announcement of a temporary ceasefire from June 1 to June 30, they have continued to carry out airstrikes on civilian areas and revolutionary force camps.
