
A military airstrike on Pauk Kone village in Thee Chaing Township, Sagaing Region, has resulted in the death of one civilian woman and left two others severely injured, according to local residents. The attack occurred on the evening of May 7, when fighter jets from the Meiktila Air Base targeted the area around Pauk Kone village and a location locally known as Kyutauk.
During the attack, two bombs were dropped, completely destroying a house on the school road at the entrance of Pauk Kone village. Nearby houses also sustained damage from bomb fragments and debris. Additionally, one cow was killed in the bombing. Among the civilian casualties, one woman suffered fatal neck injuries and died instantly, while a man and another woman sustained life-threatening injuries. The severity of their wounds has left local medical responders deeply concerned about their survival.
The full extent of damage and casualties in the Kyutauk area remains unclear, according to local sources. Pauk Kone village, which is located north of Thee Chaing town, had previously experienced military airstrikes on March 31, 2023. These continued airstrikes on civilian areas have resulted in ongoing casualties among innocent civilians, highlighting the pattern of attacks against residential areas by military forces.
