
A spokesperson from the Zo Army has confirmed that three military council soldiers, including one officer, were killed during an ambush on patrolling troops in Tamu city, Sagaing Region. The attack occurred around 12:15 PM on June 5th, when Zo Army members ambushed military council forces conducting patrol operations in Tamu city. The revolutionary forces successfully withdrew from the engagement without suffering any casualties.
According to a Zo Army official, their forces conducted the operation using locally manufactured long-range weapons due to the lack of heavy artillery. The attack was carried out by approximately 20 troops armed with 10 firearms. The engagement involved exchange of fire with military council forces and lasted about 40 minutes. The official expressed pride in their successful operation despite limited weapons and ammunition resources.
In a separate incident in Tanintharyi Region, revolutionary forces intercepted military council troops attempting to deliver supplies and reinforcements to Thein Khun village in Tanintharyi Township, resulting in the death of two military officers. According to a statement from the Taing Pan Ni People’s Defense Force, the initial clash occurred at Tamut Chon village at 6:15 AM on May 31st, with subsequent encounters at 3:10 PM, and fighting continued until 6:30 PM.
During these engagements, the military council suffered two officer casualties and seven severe injuries, while two resistance fighters were wounded. The operation was jointly conducted by Myeik District Battalion (2), Company (2), Myeik District Battalion (1), and Tanintharyi Township People’s Defense Force. Due to ongoing military tensions in Tanintharyi Township, the Taing Pan Ni People’s Defense Force has issued an advisory for local residents and travelers to exercise caution while moving through the area.
