In Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region, the principal of No. 1 High School U Moe Tun, high school teacher U Soe Thin, and school guard U Nyunt Win were arrested by military council forces and Pyu Saw Htee members for singing a revolutionary song. The incident occurred on May 27, and all three individuals remain in detention. The arrests came after they were reported singing ‘Thway Thitsar’ (Blood Oath), a revolutionary song associated with the resistance movement against the military council.
According to local sources, the incident that led to their arrest took place on the evening of May 22, when the three men were returning from a KTV and beer shop. They were reportedly singing the revolutionary song loudly while riding motorcycles along the town’s main streets. The act drew attention from local residents who witnessed the incident, and members of the Pyu Saw Htee militia stationed at the school compound also became aware of it. Initially, they were only made to sign a pledge at the school, but on May 27, they were arrested from within the school compound on charges of defaming the state.
U Moe Tun, the arrested school principal, is originally from Taze Township and had only recently been assigned to his position in Kanbalu. He had been living in the school compound with his wife, who has since returned to Taze following his arrest. Local residents have identified the arresting group as the Pyu Saw Htee militia led by Wa Thawa. The current condition and circumstances of all three detained individuals remain unknown, as no further information has been made available since their arrest. The incident has created concern among local educators and residents, highlighting the ongoing tensions between civilian populations and military-affiliated forces in the region.
