
A military council patrol from Ataw village was intercepted and attacked by resistance forces while heading towards Thae Kone village in Sagaing Region’s Taze Township, resulting in 8 casualties including one officer on the military council side, according to a representative from the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The clash occurred around 5:10 AM on June 2nd when revolutionary forces ambushed the military council troops who were conducting a patrol operation from Ataw village towards Thae Kone village. During the engagement, resistance forces captured two carbine rifles and ammunition from the military council forces.
According to reports, approximately 50 military council troops are stationed at Ataw village, equipped with heavy weapons to control the surrounding villages. The battle lasted about 15 minutes, and due to the proximity to the military council’s base camp, resistance forces were unable to seize additional weapons and ammunition. Currently, there are no signs of the military council forces burning villages or preparing for new operations in the area, according to revolutionary forces. The military council maintains a presence at Ataw village to control the surrounding area, including the villages of Aung Tha Ya, Ataw, Shwe Lan Hsan, Kaboe, Kyun Kone, and Wet Taw.
The battle site between Ataw village and Thae Kone village is separated by approximately 1,000 meters and is located about 7 miles from Taze town. The military council forces based in Ataw village have been attempting to maintain control over the entire stretch of territory in the region. This operation was jointly carried out by the People’s Liberation Army, Taze Township PDF, Territory 2 PDF, and Ye-U PDF. The security situation for local civilians and military operations by revolutionary forces continue to develop in the area. The resistance forces maintain their commitment to protecting civilian populations while conducting strategic operations against military council positions in the region.
