The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) joint forces are conducting drone strikes against the military council camp at Thay Baw Boe, located along the Thai-Myanmar border in Karen State. The attacks, which began on June 2, have forced more than 500 civilians to flee to Thailand for safety. The Thay Baw Boe military council camp is situated approximately one kilometer from the Thai-Myanmar border, and during the conflict, military council forces have been responding with heavy artillery fire.
Currently, only five military council camps remain along the Thai-Myanmar border, including Ukayittha, Thay Baw Boe, Waw Lay Strategic Hill, Ti Thay Lay Camp, and Htee Ka Play Camp. Thai authorities have accommodated the 507 civilians who fled the fighting in three different locations. The Thai military has increased security measures along the border and is maintaining constant patrol operations throughout the area.
According to the Karen National Union’s military operations, they have successfully captured numerous military council camps along the Thai-Myanmar border during March, April, and May. The captured positions include Pu Lu Tu, Khlay Day, Thaw Ko Bi Khee, Maw Phar Thu Camp, Ta Lay Camp, May La, Black Do, Maw Khee, Bogyoke Aung Camp, Ka Nay Lay Camp, and Shwe Aye Myaing Camp. This series of successful operations has significantly reduced the military council’s control over the border region.
