
The People’s Defense Force (PDF) in Thaung Tha Township has confirmed that three military council soldiers were killed during an ambush on a military reinforcement column in Thaung Tha Township, Mandalay Region. The attack occurred around 3 PM on May 18th when revolutionary forces targeted a joint convoy of Thitayamon and military council troops heading towards Thanaungkone Pyusawthi village. The resistance forces launched their attack from approximately 50 meters away as the military convoy, consisting of three vehicles, was passing through the area.
During the engagement, five military council soldiers were hit by gunfire, with three of them dying instantly at the scene. The revolutionary forces were able to successfully withdraw from the area without suffering any casualties, according to the Thaung Tha Township PDF’s statement. The operation, designated as ‘9/A Nyar Myae Operation,’ was jointly carried out by the Thaung Tha Township PDF and Battalion 3 of Myingyan District.
Due to the increasing military tensions in the region, the Thaung Tha Township PDF has issued special warnings to local residents to remain vigilant against potential airstrikes and military column movements. With the escalation of military council operations in the area, civilians have been urged to strictly follow security protocols and maintain closer cooperation with revolutionary forces. The PDF emphasized the importance of enhanced civilian vigilance and cooperation as military activities continue to intensify throughout the region.
