The spokesperson for the People’s Defense Force-Mandalay, Ko Aung Mon, has warned revolutionary forces to maintain strict security awareness as the military council is systematically infiltrating youth supporters into People’s Defense Forces for surveillance and creating division. This warning comes as the military council, facing defeats across various battlefronts nationwide, has intensified its intelligence operations by embedding informants within revolutionary forces.
The military council has been implementing a systematic approach of sending their civilian supporters to infiltrate revolutionary forces. These infiltrators are tasked with gathering location information, creating circumstances to cause internal divisions, and persuading members to desert their units. During recruitment periods, these informants methodically work to build relationships with other young recruits, collecting personal information including names, addresses, and phone numbers. Throughout training periods, they deliberately spread ideas aimed at encouraging desertion among fellow trainees.
These military council operatives are specifically trained and deployed to revolutionary forces to gather intelligence and conduct operations aimed at disrupting unity among revolutionary groups. The operation is reportedly overseen by a military council officer who provides close guidance, indicating it is being conducted as a systematic military operation. The infiltrators typically collect various forms of information about the forces and eventually desert, after which they systematically work to persuade other members to desert as well, providing assistance with escape routes and other logistics.
The People’s Defense Force-Mandalay has identified several key individuals involved in the military council’s intelligence network, including Ye Thway (aka Black/Chit Yar Aung), Kyaw Zin Htet (aka Ba Saw), Pan Ei Phyu (aka Harry Kyaw), May Myat Noe (aka Yuki), Paing Arkar Oo (aka Paing Paing), Kyay Sin Lin (aka July), and Kyaw Pyae Aung (aka System). While some individuals may have been coerced into cooperation after being captured while attempting to desert, others are willingly collaborating with the military council.
