The Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) has officially announced its cooperation with the newly formed Ramonnya Mon Army (RMA), which was established through the merger of the New Mon State Party-Anti Dictatorship (NMSP-AD) and the Mon Liberation Army (MLA). On May 24, the NMSP-AD and MLA announced their consolidation to form the Ramonnya Mon Army with the noble objectives of fighting against the military dictatorship, achieving equality, and establishing a Mon state with full self-determination rights.
The TNLA warmly welcomed and celebrated this merger alongside the Mon people, expressing their commitment to cooperation. The announcement comes at a time when the people of Myanmar are experiencing severe oppression and violence from the military regime, with civilians across different regions taking up arms in resistance. The TNLA noted that the formation of a unified Mon army represents a significant step forward in the revolutionary path, as the country has reached the highest stage of revolution against military oppression.
The Mon-Khmer ethnic groups in Myanmar, including the Mon, Wa, and Ta’ang peoples, recognize the crucial need to organize their respective nationalities and establish well-disciplined, capable armed forces to protect their territories and people. The TNLA has designated the newly formed Ramonnya Mon Army as a fellow revolutionary ally and declared its intention to work together towards achieving their revolutionary goals. This alliance represents a significant development in the ongoing struggle against military rule in Myanmar, with both groups committed to supporting each other in their fight for self-determination and democratic rights.
