The Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA) and allied forces have launched renewed attacks on military council camps in the Thai-Myanmar border area within Brigade 6 territory of the Karen National Union (KNU) in Myawaddy Township, Karen State, on the morning of May 25. Exchange of fire between both sides continues as the KNLA-led revolutionary alliance forces began their offensive at 6 AM using drones to attack military council positions, while the military council responds with heavy artillery fire.
According to military sources at the Thai-Myanmar border, the main target appears to be the Seik Baw Boe military camp. Military analysts assess that the attacks are focused on this camp based on sounds of fighting heard near the recently captured Black Do camp from May 23. Additionally, KNLA allied forces have reportedly surrounded and cut off several military council positions including Waw Lay strategic command, Kanae Lay camp, Htee Ka Play camp, and U Krit Hta camp.
Following the successful capture of the military council’s Black Do camp at 5 PM on May 23 by combined forces of KNU Brigade 6-led Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA), Karen National Defense Organization (KNDO), and People’s Defense Force (PDF), the resistance forces are now conducting continuous offensive operations against all military council camps along the Thai-Myanmar border. Reports from the battlefield indicate that various weapons and ammunition belonging to the military council were seized during the capture of the Black Do camp.
