A spokesperson from the Salin Township People’s Defense Force has confirmed that their forces launched attacks on multiple military council positions including the Salin Township Police Station, the Administrative Office Complex, and the Lin Zin Police Station using heavy and light weapons. The initial attack began around 3 AM on May 24, targeting the central guard post of the Salin Township Police Station with RPG-7 rockets in close-range combat. Following this, the resistance forces continued their offensive against military council troops stationed at the Township Administrative Office Complex, leading to an exchange of fire that lasted approximately one and a half hours.
During the engagement, military council forces reportedly reinforced their positions at both the police station and the General Administrative Office with military vehicles. The coordinated attacks were carried out by two combat units of the Salin Township People’s Defense Force, who successfully withdrew from the area without suffering any casualties. The resistance forces also targeted the Lin Zin Police Station around 1 AM on the same day, using heavy weapons that resulted in significant damage to the station’s infrastructure. The extent of casualties among military council soldiers and police personnel is currently being investigated.
These attacks come in response to the military council’s ongoing 12-day offensive in the Salin Township area, during which they have been burning and destroying civilian homes. Local defense forces have been actively resisting these operations, resulting in daily armed confrontations throughout the region. The People’s Defense Force has declared their commitment to continue fighting against the military forces that are destroying civilian properties and livelihoods, stating they will persist in their resistance until the military’s oppressive actions are stopped. The situation reflects the broader conflict between civilian defense forces and the military council, with local resistance groups working to protect their communities from military aggression.
